BE A BLESSING
Be a Blessing!!!! Today we are living in a world where there are lots of questions about one’s own life. Each one tries to find out the meaning of their actions and life. A meaningless life is an immense threat to the existence to the human society. In the modern world, where everyone is running after profits and befits, it is very difficult to spare sometime to find out the actual aim of one’s life. Hence an aimless action is not an uncommon phenomenon in the world. What is the aim of one’s life? Each child is born with an aim in its mind to be fulfilled on the earth. A major portion of one’s life is dedicated to find out what is that aim. Searching for an aim gives meaning to one’s life. From the meaning, that one reaches through his / her searching, the mission begins. Therefore meaning is the basis of each and every mission.
In the book of Genesis we come across with the blessing of the Lord to Abram (Gen.12:1-4). The main theme running through these sentences is this: “Be a Blessing”. Jesus Christ actualized this particular mission of our forefather, by being a Blessing to the humanity. Today it is to be carried out by us. The aim of our life, vocation and formation are to find out the meaning of our life, so that we may continue this particular mission. So the need of the time is to be a Blessing. Here, naturally, the question of Mother Mary arises in our mind, “How can this be?” It is by fostering oneself to achieve an “authentic” relationship with God, Others and My self.
A life, which is taken positively to its entity, always follows some values. These values give satisfaction in all the situation of their life. An “authentic” relation with my own self call for a life in which the values of God’s kingdom are taken care of and followed. When I follow the values of Jesus, in all the situations of my life, I make an “authentic” relationship with my self, which leads to an “authentic” relationship with God and others. In other words my “genuine” relationship is to be guided with the values of God, by which I can walk in the right way with right thoughts, words and deeds. When my thoughts, words and deeds are oriented towards the values of Jesus, I become a blessing to my self. The challenge of today is whether I can orient my thoughts, words and deeds based on the values of Jesus. If I succeed to take up this challenge in my life and respond positively, then I become a blessing to my self. I become Blessing when I have Blessing for others. As a result, automatically I become a blessing to others too.
Let us ask ourselves, “Can I be a blessing to my self to be the blessing for others?”
